Position Summary
The Master Quick Lube Technician / Express Service Team Lead is responsible for leading the dealership’s Express Service Department, ensuring fast, efficient, and high-quality maintenance services while maintaining Chevrolet manufacturer standards and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
This position serves as the lead technician within the express service lane and is responsible for performing advanced maintenance services, supervising quick lube technicians, training junior team members, and maintaining workflow efficiency in a high-volume dealership environment.
The ideal candidate has strong automotive technical experience, leadership ability, and a commitment to delivering the high service standards expected at a Chevrolet dealership operation.
Primary Responsibilities
Express Service Operations
- Perform express maintenance services according to Chevrolet / manufacturer service procedures
including:
- Oil and filter changes
- Tire rotations
- Multi-point vehicle inspections
- Battery testing and replacement
- Cabin and engine air filter replacement
- Fluid checks and fluid exchange services
- Wiper blade replacement
- Tire pressure monitoring system inspections
- Brake inspections during maintenance visits
- Perform maintenance inspections while identifying additional customer maintenance needs.
- Maintain strict adherence to manufacturer maintenance intervals and dealership quality standards.
- Verify all work is completed correctly before vehicle release.
Team Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of the dealership Express Service Lane.
- Supervise and direct Quick Lube Technicians and Entry-Level Technicians.
- Assign repair orders and manage technician workflow for maximum productivity.
- Train and mentor developing technicians on dealership service procedures and best practices.
- Monitor technician efficiency and work quality standards.
- Assist in onboarding and technical development of new technicians.
- Ensure all express service appointments are completed within dealership time standards.
Chevrolet Dealership Standards & Compliance
- Follow all General Motors warranty and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain compliance with dealership safety policies and manufacturer repair standards.
- Properly document services using dealership management systems and repair orders.
- Utilize dealership diagnostic equipment and service technology platforms.
- Maintain awareness of current GM service bulletins and manufacturer updates.
- Support warranty maintenance documentation requirements when applicable.
Customer Experience Responsibilities
- Support service advisors by communicating maintenance findings when needed.
- Ensure customers receive fast, professional, and accurate express service.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction standards expected in dealership operations.
- Assist management in resolving customer service concerns regarding maintenance visits.
- Promote trust through transparency and accurate vehicle inspection reporting.
Shop Operations Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe service lane environment.
- Monitor inventory levels of:
- Engine oil and fluids
- Oil filters
- Air filters
- Cabin filters
- Shop supplies and consumables
- Ensure compliance with:
- OSHA safety standards
- Dealership operating procedures
- Environmental disposal procedures for oil and hazardous materials
- Assist management with improving express lane efficiency and service throughput.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years automotive technician experience.
- Minimum 2 years express service or quick lube experience.
- Previous leadership, shop foreman, or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of automotive preventative maintenance services.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership environment.
- Ability to operate lifts, alignment equipment, tire machines, and shop equipment safely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive Service Excellence Certification preferred.
- Previous dealership experience strongly preferred.
- GM / Chevrolet dealership service experience preferred.
- Manufacturer certification through **General Motors training systems preferred.
- Experience training apprentice or entry-level technicians.
