About the Role

This position is structured as a 6-month contract assignment and is not guaranteed to convert to a permanent role. The Material Characterization Laboratory (MCL) Technician supports the Composites business by executing laboratory testing and characterization activities that accelerate product development and innovation. This role focuses on sample preparation, mechanical testing, data analysis, and continuous improvement of test methods while partnering closely with project teams to support technical and business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures and corporate policies

  • Proactively identify and address safety concerns

  • Maintain a safety-first, collaborative mindset

Laboratory Operations

  • Prepare samples and perform testing and characterization using ASTM, ISO, and other standards

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and tools safely

  • Execute testing activities accurately and on schedule

  • Document observations, trends, and key findings

Technical Execution & Method Development

  • Apply scientific and engineering principles to evaluate composite material properties

  • Improve and adapt existing test methods to meet project needs

  • Support development and implementation of new test methods and capabilities

  • Design custom tests to assess composite performance

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with project teams to define testing needs and execute test plans

  • Deliver clear and timely test results and technical interpretations

  • Support data interpretation and test method selection

  • Collaborate across global teams to expand testing capabilities

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant laboratory or industry experience

  • Hands-on experience applying science or engineering fundamentals

  • Strong data analysis, technical writing, and presentation skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with composite mechanical testing

  • Familiarity with ASTM and ISO standards

  • Experience managing lab workflow or prioritization

  • Basic CAD/drawing skills and familiarity with data systems or databases

  • Strong mechanical aptitude across technical disciplines

  • Detail-oriented with ability to build technical expertise

  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines independently

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
