Hunter offers $24.25 as the starting rate with opportunities for advancement in level and pay. This position is for our 1st shift (6 am - 3:30 pm Monday-Friday)
As a Material Clerk, you will receive, store, and distribute materials, and products within the distribution center to assigned areas.
What You’ll Do:
- Initiate purchase requisitions for materials and supplies as needed.
- Verifies material received against requisition, shipping notices, or invoices.
- Completes records concerned with quantity and type of material received, stored, and issued in the plant and use handheld scanner to enter records.
- Reads production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping notices, or invoices to determine irregularities.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, and color or product code.
- Fills work orders or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves.
- Prepares parcels for mailing and shipping.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards; opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Operates material handling equipment to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations within the plant for shipment.
- Maintain work area to sustain a clean and orderly environment and follow all safety rules.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends, as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
- A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as 3 months of related experience and/or training.
- Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as forklift, overhead crane, motorized pallet jacks, or manual pallet jacks.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, safety rules, operating instruction, procedure manuals and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.
- Basic skill level of computer programs such as Microsoft Office are highly desirable.
