Job Title:  Mask Assembly & Quality Control TechnicianJob Type: Full-TimeShift: Day Shift / 1st Shift Salary Range: $14.00 Reports To: Production Supervisor / QA Manager
Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Gas Mask Assembly & Quality Control Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the precision hand-assembly of safety components, respiratory devices, and gas mask units, followed by rigorous quality control inspection. Because this equipment is used for critical life-safety and personal protection, the ideal candidate must possess an exceptional eye for detail, strong manual dexterity, and a commitment to maintaining zero-defect production standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Precision Assembly: Line-assemble gas mask components, including facepieces, head harnesses, inhalation/exhalation valves, canisters, and filter seals, according to strict blueprints and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Quality Control Inspection: Conduct thorough visual and physical inspections of raw materials and finished masks to identify defects, blemishes, alignment issues, or material flaws.
  • Testing Operations: Operate specialized testing equipment (such as pressure-decay leak testers, airflow resistance meters, and fit-test seals) to ensure every unit is 100% airtight and functionally compliant.
  • Documentation & Tracking: Accurately log production numbers, testing results, and quality data sheets. Flag, document, and segregate any non-conforming or defective materials to prevent them from reaching packaging.
  • Component Preparation: Clean, prep, and organize delicate components prior to assembly to ensure no dust, oils, or contaminants compromise the seals.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe cleanroom or warehouse work environment. Adhere to all OSHA, personal protective equipment (PPE), and facility safety protocols.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in electronic assembly, precision warehouse production, medical device manufacturing, or quality control inspection is highly preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small, delicate valves and seals.
    • Strong reading comprehension to follow technical diagrams, assembly drawings, and written QA guidelines.
    • Basic computer and math skills for inputting testing data and counting production batches.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Must be comfortable working in a climate-controlled production environment (hot, cold, or office/cleanroom settings depending on the facility layout).
    • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift) and perform repetitive hand-assembly movements.
    • Strong close-up vision (assisted or unassisted) to detect minute tears, gaps, or defects in rubber and silicone materials.
  • Compliance: Must be willing to submit to a standard pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Key Behavioral Competencies for Success
  • Sense of Urgency & Pace: Ability to meet daily production quotas without sacrificing the meticulous detail required for safety equipment.
  • Teachable & Respectful: Takes constructive criticism well during the training phase and actively asks questions when assembly specifications are unclear.
  • Punctuality: A proven track record of excellent attendance and consistency, understanding that small team production relies heavily on every member showing up on time.
