Position Summary
The Material Coordinator is responsible for executing daily material flow activities to ensure uninterrupted production through accurate inventory control, timely replenishment, and proper material presentation at point of use. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, preventing shortages, and supporting production schedules through disciplined system and physical execution.
The Material Coordinator works closely with Production, Inventory Control, Warehouse Operations, and Scheduling to proactively identify risks, resolve material issues, and drive continuous improvement in internal logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Execution & Material Flow
Execute daily material replenishment and presentation to point of use to support production schedules
Monitor material availability and proactively address shortages, low inventory, and at-risk parts
Ensure material is staged, delivered, and replenished in accordance with line design and standard work
Support internal warehouse movements between locations, buildings, and work centers
Inventory Accuracy & System Integrity
Maintain accurate inventory through proper execution of receipts, moves, picks, and issues in D365
Monitor and resolve negative inventory, mismatched locations, and reservation conflicts
Partner with Inventory Control on cycle counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution
Ensure physical and systematic inventory are aligned at all times
Shortage Prevention & Root Cause
Run daily shortage / risk reports and review high-risk parts
Investigate and resolve shortages through root cause analysis (usage, BOM accuracy, transactions, receiving, picking, etc.)
Escalate systemic issues and repeat offenders to leadership and cross-functional teams
Production & Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with Schedulers, Supervisors, and Production teams to align material readiness with schedules
Communicate material risks, constraints, and recovery plans in daily production meetings
Support engineering changes, new part introductions, and line changes
Process Discipline & Continuous Improvement
Follow standard operating procedures for all material transactions and physical movements
Identify process gaps, execution issues, and improvement opportunities in material flow
Participate in 5S, warehouse optimization, and line design initiatives
Support training of LSPs / Storekeepers on proper material handling and transactions

The Material Coordinator is accountable for driving performance in the following areas:
Material Availability at Point of Use (MAPOU)
Shortage frequency and recovery time
Negative inventory reduction
Inventory accuracy (RAW, WIP)
Pick and replenishment execution quality
Shrink and adjustment reduction
Production schedule attainment
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in manufacturing, materials, warehouse, or supply chain operations
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Dynamics 365 preferred)
Experience with inventory control, material movements, and production support
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in internal logistics / point-of-use material presentation
Experience working in multi-building or high-mix manufacturing environments
Familiarity with cycle counting, audits, and inventory accuracy programs
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure
