Matrix HR is partnering with a leading North American Energy and Utilities client to recruit an experienced Material Coordinator based in Houston, Texas!

Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting critical US Projects – West by ensuring the seamless coordination of materials from procurement through final delivery.

Reporting to the Manager, Material Coordination and Project Support, the office-based Material Coordinator is responsible for managing end-to-end material coordination to support project execution and operational continuity.

Working closely with Project Managers, Project Engineering, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Construction, and other key stakeholders, you will ensure project materials are accurately identified, requisitioned, tracked, and delivered to the correct location on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop material procurement schedules using Supply Chain lead times to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules.

  • Review engineering drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs) throughout the design lifecycle to identify required materials and ensure accurate tracking within the Material Coordinator system.

  • Coordinate engineering deliverables with Supply Chain to support Requests for Quotations (RFQs), purchase awards, SAP Purchase Requisitions, SAP Reservations, and new Material Master requests.

  • Collaborate with Materials Management, Warehousing, Purchasing, Expediting, Logistics, Fabrication, and Construction teams to monitor inventory, track material status, expedite deliveries, and resolve material shortages, quality concerns, or documentation discrepancies.

  • Maintain Material Status Reports and provide accurate updates on material quantities, locations, schedules, and Required At Site (RAS) dates.

  • Coordinate the movement, receipt, and release of materials between warehouses, fabrication facilities, laydown yards, and construction sites, including Goods Receipts within SAP.

  • Locate and provide required project documentation, including Material Test Records (MTRs), while identifying surplus materials for inventory or investment recovery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in material coordination, procurement, logistics, or a similar role within the energy, pipeline, power, or related industries.

  • Experience using SAP, including requisitioning and goods receipt functions.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs).

  • Strong knowledge of material coordination processes and project execution.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering Technology, Logistics, or a related discipline.

  • Experience supporting capital projects or operations and maintenance within the energy sector.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day (40 hours per week)

  • Work Arrangement: Full-time onsite due to the collaborative nature of the role.

  • Contract Extension: Extension is not confirmed at this time but may be considered at a later date.
