The Logistics and Materials Coordinator oversees inventory control, purchasing, and material flow to ensure the maintenance and production teams have the parts, tools, and supplies they need to operate efficiently. This role combines hands-on work in a production environment with detailed computer-based data entry, documentation, and coordination with suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate inventory control and organization of materials, spare parts, tooling, and fixtures.
  • Plan and execute purchasing and preparation activities to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Obtain and compare quotes from suppliers to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming items for accuracy, quality, and completeness.
  • Perform regular cycle counting and inventory audits to identify discrepancies and maintain data accuracy.
  • Manage spare parts and tooling, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and availability for maintenance and production teams.
  • Oversee tooling and fixture management, including tracking, organizing, and maintaining necessary equipment.
  • Perform hands-on computer data entry to update inventory records, purchase orders, and material transactions.
  • Code and label materials, parts, and tools clearly and accurately for easy identification and tracking.
  • Coordinate closely with maintenance and production teams to ensure they have all required materials, parts, and tools to complete their work without delays.
  • Handle materials safely using appropriate material handling equipment, including forklifts and hand tools, as needed.
  • Support packing and general labor tasks related to material handling and inventory operations.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures while working around moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, materials coordination, inventory control, or a closely related role.
  • Experience with inventory control processes, including cycle counting and inventory audits.
  • Hands-on experience with purchasing activities and obtaining quotes from suppliers.
  • Proficiency in computer-based data entry for inventory systems, purchase orders, and material tracking.
  • Ability to manage spare parts, tooling, and fixtures in a structured and organized manner.
  • Material handling experience, including packing and general labor related to inventory operations.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools in a production or warehouse environment.
  • Forklift operating experience and comfort working around material handling equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects regularly as part of daily duties.
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate power tools and handle small hardware such as nuts and bolts.
  • Ability to work safely in a non-climate-controlled production facility with exposure to heat, noise, and airborne particles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with spare parts in a maintenance or production setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for coding, labeling, and tracking materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance, production, and supervisory personnel.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with consistent production demands.
  • Willingness to follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Work Environment:

  • This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, providing consistent daytime hours.
  • Work takes place in a non-climate-controlled production facility that can become very hot in the summer, and employees are allowed to keep water at their workstations to stay hydrated.
  • The environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles, and the noise level is typical of a busy production setting.
  • Employees perform their duties on their feet for most of the shift, regularly lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy objects while using hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment such as forklifts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
