Material Damage & Specialty Director

What You'll Do: As the Material Damage & Specialty Director you will direct the Property/Casualty Shared Services Material Damage staff responsible for auto, specialty vehicle, and related claims, including both non storm and storm operations. Other duties include:

  • Establish and execute the material damage claims strategy, including service delivery, operational performance, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives that support client/member service, growth, loss ratio, and efficiency goals.
  • Lead enterprise storm response for material damage claims, including planning, readiness, resource deployment, surge capacity, workflow prioritization, and consistent claim handling and customer communication during catastrophe events.
  • Direct the activities of the specialty units within the claim department.
  • Lead training development for claims handling, technical auto/specialty vehicle damage assessment, and catastrophe response processes.
  • Develop and manage the material damage claims budget, including catastrophe-related expenditures.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

  • College degree or equivalent plus ten years of relevant experience required.
  • Five years management experience in underwriting, claims, or property and casualty insurance required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer service, team orientation, and technical/business/industry regulations related skills required.
  • Travel required (approx. 25%-30%) including overnight, and must be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions.
