We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused
Material Handler to support our clients plastic sheet extrusion manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for safely moving, staging, receiving, storing, and supplying raw materials and finished products throughout the facility.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is critical to maintaining production flow by ensuring materials are available when needed and finished products are properly handled, stored, and prepared for shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Safely operate forklifts, tow motors, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
- Load and unload raw materials, finished products, pallets, and production supplies.
- Transport raw materials to designated production areas according to schedules and work instructions.
- Supply plastic sheet extrusion lines with raw materials, packaging materials, cores, and other production necessities.
- Remove finished products from production areas and transport them to designated staging or storage locations.
- Properly identify, label, organize, and store raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods.
- Assist with receiving incoming materials and verify quantities and product identification against receiving documentation.
- Stage finished products for shipment and assist Shipping and Receiving personnel as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory locations and promptly report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and material organization projects.
- Inspect pallets, packaging, and products for damage prior to movement or storage.
- Properly handle, sort, and dispose of scrap plastic and return materials according to company procedures.
- Keep storage areas, loading docks, production areas, and aisles clean, organized, and safe.
- Communicate effectively with Production Supervisors, Machine Operators, Shipping and Receiving personnel, and other team members.
- Assist with light machine operation and other production-related tasks as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and material-handling guidelines.
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Basic math skills and the ability to accurately count inventory and materials.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material-handling experience.
- Forklift or tow motor operating experience.
- Forklift certification.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience supporting production operations.
- Experience performing light machine operation or machine support functions.

- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach during the workday.
- Occasionally sit, climb, balance, or bend over.
- Regularly lift and move objects up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally move materials weighing more than 100 pounds using proper equipment and assistance.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Possess visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
