Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Material Handler to join a busy fabrication and manufacturing operation in Tulsa. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, locating, packing, staging, and moving raw materials and finished products throughout the facility.

Material Handlers work both independently and as part of a team to meet established safety, quality, productivity, and scheduling requirements. This is a hands-on industrial position involving forklifts, overhead cranes, electric hoists, trucks, power equipment, and other material-handling systems.

Because of the equipment and processes involved, this is classified as a safety-sensitive position.

Required Experience & Skills

• Basic fabrication shop experience
• Previous material-handling or industrial experience preferred
• Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts
• Must successfully complete required forklift training
• Ability to work safely around overhead cranes and electric hoists
• Ability to accurately read a shop tape measure
• Ability to read and write basic shop communications
• Ability to follow material-moving instructions and work orders
• Strong attention to material accuracy and quality
• Ability to maintain established productivity standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Strong commitment to industrial safety

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Load materials and merchandise onto trucks
• Unload incoming materials and products
• Pack materials appropriately before loading
• Locate raw materials throughout the facility
• Locate packed and finished products
• Review and follow material-moving instructions
• Stage materials according to production requirements
• Operate forklifts to move materials
• Operate industrial trucks as assigned
• Operate electric hoists to lift and position materials
• Work safely around overhead cranes
• Move materials between production and storage areas
• Support efficient material flow throughout the facility
• Verify materials are moved to the correct locations
• Maintain required productivity levels
• Ensure workmanship meets established quality standards
• Maintain clean and organized material areas
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Maintain applicable 5S workplace standards
• Perform additional material-handling duties as assigned

Forklift Responsibilities

Material Handlers may regularly use forklifts to:

• Load and unload trucks
• Move raw materials
• Transport finished products
• Stage production materials
• Organize material locations
• Support shipping and receiving activities
• Maintain efficient material flow

Candidates must be able to successfully complete the company's forklift training requirements.

Overhead Crane & Hoist Responsibilities

This position involves regular work with and around:

• Overhead cranes
• Electric hoists
• Industrial lifting equipment
• Suspended materials
• Heavy fabricated components

Candidates must maintain strong situational awareness and follow all established lifting and material-handling safety procedures.

Material Packing & Loading

• Prepare materials before shipment or movement
• Pack products according to applicable requirements
• Verify materials before loading
• Position materials safely for transportation
• Assist with truck loading and unloading
• Help prevent product damage during material movement
• Maintain organized staging areas

Tape Measure & Shop Communication

Candidates must be able to:

• Accurately use a shop tape measure
• Read basic measurements
• Follow written shop instructions
• Understand material-moving orders
• Read basic production communication
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors

Productivity & Quality Requirements

Material Handlers are expected to:

• Meet established productivity requirements
• Complete material moves accurately and efficiently
• Maintain company workmanship standards
• Handle products carefully to prevent damage
• Follow applicable work instructions
• Communicate material or quality concerns promptly
• Work efficiently without sacrificing safety or accuracy

5S & Workplace Organization

Candidates are expected to support established 5S requirements by helping maintain:

• Organized material locations
• Clean work areas
• Clear travel and pedestrian paths
• Properly stored tools and equipment
• Safe staging areas
• Efficient and orderly production spaces

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to safely enter and exit forklifts and industrial equipment
• Ability to handle and position materials as required
• Manual dexterity required for material-handling activities
• Comfortable performing physically active industrial work throughout extended shifts
• Ability to safely work around cranes, forklifts, trucks, and power equipment
• Ability to wear all required PPE

Work Environment

• Industrial fabrication and manufacturing environment
• Regular work around forklifts, overhead cranes, trucks, electric hoists, and production equipment
• Hands-on position involving frequent material movement and equipment operation
• Safety-sensitive environment requiring constant awareness and adherence to procedures
• Consistent Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule
• Some Saturday work may be required
