The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and accurate movement, inspection, and loading of materials across plant and warehouse operations. This role operates powered equipment, performs quality assurance checks, and supports inventory accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Load and unload trailers at both the Plant and Warehouse following written and oral load sheets.
- Operate towmotor (forklift) for loading and unloading railcars and trailers.
- Move foam to loading areas by hand or with powered equipment.
- Conduct final quality assurance inspections before loading; identify and respond to foam defects including holes, splits, poor structure, contamination, and dimension issues.
- Distinguish between different grades and pore sizes in scrap foam bales.
- Perform inventory cycle counts and retag material as needed.
- Inspect trailers for damage prior to loading or off-loading goods.
- Inspect and perform basic pre-use maintenance on towmotors.
- Search for and locate orders for shipment throughout plant production areas.
- Perform additional duties as directed by a supervisor when not acting in the primary Material Handler capacity.
