Position Overview
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, and verifying raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility. This role requires experience operating a sit-down forklift, handling large materials, maintaining accurate inventory counts, and supporting production operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift to transport materials safely throughout the facility
- Move large materials weighing between 2,500 and 5,000 pounds
- Load, unload, stage, and organize materials for production
- Count, verify, and track inventory accurately
- Perform basic data entry and maintain material records
- Use measuring tapes to verify dimensions and specifications
- Assist with inventory control and material handling activities
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Support cross-training and other warehouse functions as needed
QualificationsRequired
- 2-3 years of sit-down forklift experience preferred
- Ability to safely move large and heavy materials
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Basic math and counting skills
- Experience with inventory verification and material tracking
- Comfortable with basic computer work and data entry
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- Experience using calipers and precision measuring tools
- Manufacturing or warehouse experience
- Shipping and receiving experience
Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility environment
- Operation of a narrow sideloader forklift in tight spaces
- Standing, walking, lifting, and material handling throughout the shift
- Safety-focused workplace with strict operational procedures
- No cell phone use during working hours
