Forklift Operator/Material Handler

The core responsibilities of this role include prioritizing, scheduling and planning tasks for assigned department.

Position: Forklift Operator/Material Handler

  • AM Shift: (Plant) 6am-;6:30pm, Day shift rotates on a 3-2-2 schedule

Starting Pay:$21.25 per hour.

PM Shift differential of $2.00/HR Monday- Thursday nights, $3.00/HR Friday -; Sunday nights.

AM Shift Weekend differential of $1.00/HR for Saturday and Sunday shifts worked.

In addition to the general job description below, the ideal candidate will also possess the following skills and/or experience:

  • Forklift experience is necessary for qualified candidates with good work history.
  • Forklift positions will require safely operating a forklift, as well as perform material handler job duties to include loading and unloading, stacking and staging product.

Role Purpose:

What will you do in this role? Our Forklift Operators are responsible for moving stock from one area to another within our warehouse environment. You'll load and unload shipments of various sizes, and you may use certain types of equipment such as stand-up, sit-down, or clamp forklifts and electric tuggers.Our environment is team oriented, fast paced and safety focused. We move products that people need and want. At DHL, YOU will be an essential part of everyday life.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using various types of forklifts or other power equipment 80% of specified shift.
  • Pull and prepare products for shipment or production ensuring the exact number and types of products is processed.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy.
  • Comply with all OSHA and MSDS standards.
  • Verify load accuracy; check the load count, stability, and product damage, report variances as necessary.
  • Change equipment battery or LP tank and monitor power source as necessary.
  • Maintain facility's equipment and materials in a neat, and orderly fashion.
  • Assist in physical inventories.
  • Complete daily inspection of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Forklift operator certificate or satisfactory completion of a forklift-training program within the first 30 days of employment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred
  • Six months warehouse experience, preferred

Role Purpose:

Responsible for operating powered equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting product. Responsible for checking all inbound and outbound products. Ensures products are free of damage and infestation, product code dates are properly recorded and products match customer requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Physically load product onto equipment, pallets or totes more than 20% of specified shift.
  • Put-away and pick product for shipment or stock. Insure the exact number and type of products, ordered by the customer, are checked and loaded correctly.
  • Compare the quantity, quality, labeling, and address with the customer's order to ensure outgoing product shipments are complete and correct.
  • Changes equipment battery or LP tank and monitors power source as necessary.
  • Verify and report discrepancies such as non-available products and OS&D.
  • Maintain the facility and the facility's equipment in a neat, clean, orderly fashion. Inspect all operated equipment daily.
  • Complete daily inspection of equipment.
  • Assist in physical inventories.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred
  • Six months warehouse experience, preferred
  • Six months forklift operation experience, prefer
