JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Material Handler IIOVERVIEW:
Loads, unloads, moves, and handles materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site. Responsible for safely transporting, organizing, documenting, and preparing materials for production and shipment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Major Responsibilities
• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved.
• Open containers and inspect materials as required.
• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves, and trucks.
• Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.
• Move materials from storage or work areas to designated locations.
• Secure lifting attachments to materials and safely convey loads to their destination.
• Signal crane or hoisting operators when required to move materials.
• Count, weigh, and record quantities of materials moved or handled on daily production sheets.
• Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, bales, or other containers.
• Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
• Operate industrial trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, or electric hoists to assist with loading and moving materials and products.
• Prepare labor cards, job tickets, reports, forms, records, and other required paperwork.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company safety procedures.
• Ensure machine guards and other required safety equipment are in place and functioning properly before and during operation.
• Monitor and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Perform any other duties of a similar or lesser nature as required.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience:
• Forklift, pallet jack, or industrial truck operating experience
• Experience moving tubular or long products
• Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a manufacturing or material-handling environment preferred.Skills:
