Title: Material Handler I

PR: $19/hr.
Position Summary
The Material Handler I is responsible for supporting warehousing and distribution operations through material handling, order fulfillment, shipping, receiving, inventory movement, and storage activities. This role ensures compliance with cGMP standards, departmental SOPs, safety procedures, and housekeeping requirements while maintaining accurate inventory and shipment processing.
The ideal candidate will be capable of working in cold storage environments, operating warehouse equipment, and supporting manufacturing and distribution activities in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Order Fulfillment & Material Handling (30%)
- Pick and pack customer and manufacturing orders in accordance with instructions, regulations, and department SOPs.
- Unload trucks and palletize incoming materials.
- Store or deliver materials to designated locations or personnel.
- Maintain clean, organized, and compliant warehouse work areas.
Receiving & Documentation (20%)
- Visually inspect incoming materials for accuracy and condition before signing receipt documentation.
- Verify freight against Bills of Lading and shipping manifests.
- Enter receipt and inventory information into applicable computer systems.
Shipping Operations (20%)
- Load freight onto carriers according to shipping manifests and Bills of Lading.
- Ensure shipments are properly staged and secured for transport.
Manufacturing Support (15%)
- Pick, stage, and deliver components for manufacturing orders based on move requests and transfer orders (TOs).
- Support internal material movement activities across operational departments.
Scrap & Returned Goods Processing (10%)
- Process materials for scrap in compliance with medical and hazardous waste regulations.
- Handle receipt, storage, and destruction of returned goods according to Returned Goods Policies.
Additional Duties (5%)
- Perform other warehouse and distribution-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 1 2 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution, or material handling environment.
- Basic PC and computer data entry skills.
- Basic mathematics skills.
- Ability to work across shipping, receiving, and warehousing functions.
- Ability to work in environments as cold as -20 C using appropriate PPE.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with SAP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Experience in Biotechnology, Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or Consumer Product Manufacturing environments.
