Job Title: Material Handler


Job Description


This role focuses on material handling activities including picking, packing, box-making, shipping, receiving, and inventory support in a warehouse environment across multiple shifts in the Fishers/Indianapolis area. You will handle both physical and administrative tasks to ensure materials, parts, supplies, and equipment move efficiently and accurately through the facility, supporting inventory and manufacturing lines while following standard operating procedures.


Responsibilities


+ Perform physical and administrative tasks involved in shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment.

+ Unpack and check incoming goods against purchase orders or invoices, verify accuracy, and maintain detailed records of received items.

+ Identify and reject unsatisfactory items as necessary, following established quality and safety procedures.

+ Lift and move heavy items as part of daily material handling duties, using proper lifting techniques and safety practices.

+ Operate a forklift as needed to move, load, or unload materials, following all equipment safety guidelines.

+ Prepare and maintain accurate records of merchandise shipped, including documentation and tracking information.

+ Post weights and shipping charges and prepare goods for final shipment, ensuring all packaging and labeling meet requirements.

+ Examine, stock, and distribute materials to inventory locations and manufacturing lines to support production needs.

+ Prepare kitting packages for assembly production by gathering and organizing required components.

+ Use RF scanners and other warehouse tools to pick, pack, and track orders with accuracy and efficiency.

+ Perform order picking, packing, packaging, and box making to fulfill customer and internal orders.

+ Support shipping and receiving operations, including loading and unloading materials and verifying shipment details.

+ Follow standard operating procedures and work effectively under a moderate degree of supervision.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines.

+ Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.


Essential Skills


+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ At least 1 year of work experience in a warehouse environment.

+ English proficiency to maintain, ensure, and promote safety requirements and procedures.

+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

+ Experience with material handling activities such as lifting, picking, packing, and shipping.

+ Ability to work on your feet and move continuously throughout the shift.

+ Comfort working in a warehouse environment that includes refrigerated areas and cold temperatures.

+ Willingness and ability to operate a forklift, following appropriate safety procedures.

+ Capability to follow standard operating procedures and work under moderate supervision.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Basic computer skills with competency using standard software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

+ Experience using RF scanners for inventory, picking, and packing tasks.

+ Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.

+ Good written and verbal communication skills.

+ Good organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and strong attention to detail.

+ Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.

+ Thorough understanding of appropriate safety procedures in a warehouse environment.

+ Experience with inventory management, shipping and receiving, packaging, and box making.

+ Experience in roles such as material handler, picker, packer, or order picker is beneficial.

Work Environment


This position is based in a warehouse environment in the Fishers/Indianapolis area, with operations running across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Typical shift options include 1st shift from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 9:15 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., providing structured schedules Monday through Friday for 1st and 2nd shifts and Sunday through Thursday for 3rd shift. A portion of the facility is refrigerated, and material handlers regularly move between standard and cold areas while performing picking, packing, and box-making duties, so comfort working in colder temperatures is important. You will be constantly on your feet and in motion throughout the shift, handling materials, operating equipment such as forklifts, and using RF scanners and basic computer systems for inventory and shipping tasks. The environment follows standard operating procedures and safety protocols, with an emphasis on safe lifting, equipment use, and proper handling of materials.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.09/hr.
