    Job Description

    Material Handler:

    Position  
     
    Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, loads/unloads trucks, makes sure all proper transactions are done, and systems are kept up to date, and prepares items, for the shop on shipment. 
      
    Responsibilities  
     
    • Compares identifying information and counts, affixes shipping labels, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, order, or other records. 
    • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damages in transit. 
    • Completes physical inventory counting and cycle counting when directed. 
    • Stages equipment for shop per job order, sales order, or verbal instructions. 
    • Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. 
      
    Qualifications 
     
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
     
    • Ability to operate forklift and other warehouse machinery and be able to pass certification testing of same.  
      
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, along with standard math skills, i.e. add, subtract, multiply and divide.    
     
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
