Material Handler Metal

Overview: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for supplying the department production line as well as assisting with packing and shipping finished product in a safe and efficient manner to meet internal and external customer needs.  Essential Functions: Promote and drive safety-first culture, ensuring the safety of employees, contractors, and visitorsKnow and follow safety and emergency procedures as neededAnticipating product changeovers, picks and unloads/loads decoiler in a safe and responsible manner to aid in panel production as per daily production scheduleAssisting Roll Former Operator, routinely perform quality checks and make machinery adjustments as needed to provide customer with complete and damage-free productAid in wrapping/tagging of panels Complete all daily ordersEffectively coordinate with all department team members to ensure materials tracking compliance and efficient and steady production flowMaintain clean work area and workstation prep throughout shiftComplete housekeeping and workstation prep tasks prior to end of shiftAssist with performing preventative maintenance on machinery as per trainingTroubleshoot and/or notify immediate supervisor of machine breakdowns or issuesMaintain and/or update department visual tracking production schedule boardCross-train on other machines in the department and/or in other departments in the plantProvide support in meeting and/or exceeding department and plant goals such as safety, quality, scrap prevention and operational excellencePerform other duties as assigned. Skills/Experience Requirements:Ability toProperly utilize and maintain all personal protective equipment (PPE)Read and writeEffectively communicate with othersRead a tape measure, perform basic mathematical calculations as well as use a calculatorMaintain a dependable attendance recordReceive instruction and follow direction, including technical and multi-step instructionsWork indoors or outdoors in all weather conditionsWork independently as well as in a teamWork safely, remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environmentAbility and willingness toContribute innovative solutions to work-related challengesLearn, align with and support company goals, values and mission statementLead from any role within the organization and contribute in developing fellow team members  Preferred attributesHigh school diploma or GEDPrevious field-related, forklift and/or manufacturing experience  Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods of timeRoutine lifting up to 50 lbs (occasional lifting up to 80 lbs)Frequent to occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, climbing, bending and twisting
