A material handler is responsible and accountable for facilitating and supporting the transportation and unloading/loading of materials, inventory supplies, and finished products to designated locations using a forklift and other equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Ability to safely operate an overhead crane with chains
· Ability to safely operate tow motor
· Ability to fill out paperwork, record transactions, review packing slips & bill of ladings Ability to prepare finished product for shipment by identifying, pulling, staging, packing, crating, loading and securing product
· Understand and use basic math and a tape measure
· Ability to perform physical labor and lift at least 50 pounds
· Move and store a variety of materials, parts or products, check identification, report shortages or damaged materials.
· Use forklifts and pallet jacks as necessary to move and position parts and materials; use care to lift and balance loads properly; operate equipment in a safe manner.
· Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials.
· Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to supervision
· Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Qualifications
· High school or equivalent (Preferred)
· Warehouse Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
· Ability to work in outdoor environments
· Forklift: 1 year (Preferred)
· Job Type: Full-time
· Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· At least one year of forklift experience. Forklift Certification preferred.
· At least one year of related experience working within a material and/or logistics environment.
· Previous experience reading and following instructions, utilizing basic math and a tape measure.
· Previous experience working in outdoor environments lifting 50 pounds as needed.
