Job Summary:
Central Plains Steel is seeking a reliable Material Handler to support receiving, processing, storing, and distributing metal products in a fast‑paced warehouse environment. This role includes operating warehouse equipment, pulling orders, packaging materials, completing documentation, and maintaining a safe and clean workspace. Ideal candidates are dependable, safety‑minded, and strong team players.

 

Monday-Friday, 1st Shift, 6:30am – 3:00pm

Physical Requirements: Stand or Sit(Stationary position), Walk(Move, Traverse), Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse), Use hand/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position), Stoop, kneel, crouch, or Crawl(Position self(to), Move), Talk/hear(Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information), See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess), Pushing or Pulling, Reaching, Repetitive Motion Function in the Job: Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Job Function:
  • Pull and assemble orders based on work or shipping instructions
  • Perform material handling, sorting, packaging, tagging, and documentation
  • Operate forklifts, yard trucks, and overhead cranes
  • Conduct quality inspections and inventory spot checks
  • Maintain safety standards and clean work areas
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Required Skills:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 0–5 years of warehouse or material handling experience
  • Ability to read and follow written/oral instructions
  • Basic math & measurement skills
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Ability to obtain certification for required equipment
