Material Handler

Job Title: Material Handler

Location: Rockford, IL

Pay Rate: $21.12 per hour

Duration: 4 Months - Temp to Perm

Shift Time: 8am-4:30pm

Summary:

• Maintain incoming and outgoing product movement throughout the facility
• Follow all policies and guidelines regarding workplace safety and product quality
• Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
• Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas
• Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other stock items and distribute items to production areas
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets
• Mark materials with identifying information
• Open bales, crates, and other containers
• Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed
• Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards
• Use computer to enter records
• Drive material handling equipment to transport stored items
• Load and unload trailers of palletized and non-palletized product
• Utilize manual and automated material handling equipment
• Practice and adhere to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection
• Contribute to division results and performance
• Take care of internal and external customer needs and expectations

Requirements:

• Strong equipment operation experience, including stand-up, sit-down forklifts, and order pickers
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management staff
• Ability to read information through warehouse computer software
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis
• Ability to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to climb and descend stairs
• Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull frequently
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
• May work indoors and outdoors as needed, with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels
• Some travel to other locations, meetings, and/or seminars is required
