Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving

Acme Industries is looking for a Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving Associate to support our growing manufacturing operation in Elk Grove Village.

In this role, you'll move materials throughout the facility, receive incoming shipments, prepare outbound orders, and play a critical part in keeping production running safely and efficiently. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating forklifts and cranes, and being part of a team that manufactures components for the aerospace and defense industries, we'd like to meet you.

What You'll Do

Material Handling

• Move raw materials, work-in-process parts, and finished components throughout the facility
• Stage materials for production and transport completed parts to their next operation
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
• Store and retrieve materials, tooling, and fixtures accurately
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and material tracking
• Maintain organized, safe, and clean work areas

Shipping & Receiving

• Receive and verify incoming materials and supplies
• Inspect shipments for accuracy and damage
• Enter receiving information into our ERP system
• Prepare, package, label, and stage outbound shipments
• Complete shipping paperwork and documentation
• Coordinate shipments and pickups with carriers and internal departments

Safety First

• Follow all forklift, crane, rigging, and material handling safety procedures
• Perform equipment inspections before use
• Wear required PPE and maintain a safe work environment
• Report safety concerns, damaged materials, or inventory discrepancies promptly

What We're Looking For

Required

High School Diploma or GED

Manufacturing material handling experience

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely handle larger materials using equipment

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Reliable attendance and punctuality

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English

Preferred

• Forklift certification
• Overhead crane certification
• Shipping & receiving experience
• ERP experience (Made2Manage a plus)
• Rigging experience
• Experience in machining, aerospace, defense, or heavy manufacturing environments
