Material Handler (Forklift Operator)
Work Location & Shifts:
7220 US Highway 158, Stokesdale, NC 27357
3:00PM 1:30AM Monday-Thursday; OT as needed
What your day in this role might involve at OC Stokesdale:
The primary purpose of this position is to safely provide materials to machine centers to maximize efficient plant operations.
Obtain a forklift certification
Follow all forklift rules and safety regulations
Keep all doorways, aisles, electrical panel boxes, and fire extinguishers clear at all times
Make sure all trash is dumped at least daily or more often as necessary
Notify the supervisor of any damage to the forklift or buildings immediately
Make sure all units are tagged and banded securely before placing material in bays
Learn all RF and QAD functions related to material handling and demonstrate ability to use these functions
Perform end of shift work center audits and notify supervision and inventory control of issues
Properly carry loads at a safe speed per forklift training and signoffs
Maintain safety around pedestrians and work center personnel
Perform required maintenance checks in the required intervals
Keep bays at least 18 inches away from wall and maintain a 3-foot aisleway between warehouse bays
Keep bays of material in order and organized and safe
Perform necessary housekeeping duties to keep the warehouse neat and organized by 5S standards and standard work
Maintain good communication with other lift drivers on common, as well as off shifts
What makes a successful OC Stokesdale team member:
Must haves include
High School Diploma or GED and be at least 18 Years Old
Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Able to read a tape measure
Able to pass a written exam and driving test for forklift
Able to work independently, while maintaining material availability to work centers
Good hand eye coordination and mechanically adaptable to use forklift controls
Would be terrific if you also had
Preferably one year experience in a manufacturing setting
There are some essential physical requirements specific to our work environment, including being able to:
Perform frequent hand, wrist, and arm motions and capable of sitting on forklift for the entire 10-hour shift, including getting on and off the forklift multiple times each shift
Walk, bend, twist, stoop and lift approximately 35 lbs.
Withstand heat up to 95 degrees
Be exposed to wood dust and aluminum with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent
