Material Handler Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Move merchandise and materials from shipment to production floor.
- Load and unload materials in warehouse and storage by transport equipment like cranes and forklifts.
- Deliver materials with accuracy according to paperwork.
- Prepare materials for shipping, such as weighing, packaging, and banding.
- Prepare shipment method according to shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Participate in routing, counting, and inspecting items while loading and unloading trucks.
- Prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
- Resolve problems regarding shipping, receiving, and stock operations.
- Safe use of an overhead crane and forklift
Skills:
- Safety practices and record keeping.
- Physical ability to lift heavy packages and objects.
- Able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment or any large vehicles in tight and congested areas.
- Basic knowledge of math and computers
- Communication skills

- Able to read a tape measure
