Job Description
Northrop Grumman is looking for an Engineer Material Process 3 to support our Parts, Materials and Processes (PM&P) department. As a member of the PM&P department you'll get to create objective evidence demonstrating compliance to contractual requirements including specifications, test plans, test reports and part aproval requests.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.
Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
Required Skills:
ABET accredited Bachelor's (Chemistry, Metallurgy or Material Science preferred) or Master's, 8 years experience with Bachelors, 5 years with Masters.
Familiar with material and process related requirement reviews.
Familiar with material characterization, qualification, and generation of design allowables.
Ability to interpret engineering specs, drawings, diagrams and blueprints
Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English)
Background in capture and execution of new program start up; along with the execution of materials qualification programs associated with the platform's life cycle performance requirements and Program Milestones.
Good understanding of Program Financial Metrics and Program Reporting Schedules

Desired Skills:
Experience creating, submitting, and gaining Customer approval of As Designed Parts and Material Lists in accordance with Contractual requirements.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
NX or other CAD experience.
Experience participating and coordinating Hardware Acceptance Reviews in support of GMD activities.
Ability to present technical content to peers and project groups.
Experience creating, submitting, reviewing, and gaining Customer approval of NonStandard Mechanical Part Approval Requests (NSMPAR) in accordance with Contractual requirements.
