JOB OVERVIEW

The Materials Readiness Coordinator is responsible for helping ensure that production has the materials needed to run jobs on time and without unnecessary disruption. This role monitors material availability, identifies shortages or missing parts, verifies job completeness, and works with production, material handling, planning, purchasing, fleet, and inventory teams to resolve issues quickly. The Materials Readiness Coordinator plays a key role in protecting schedule execution and reducing downtime caused by missing or incomplete material.

 

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Monitor material readiness for assigned work centers, facilities and parts categories (purchased parts, customer supplied, manufactured parts, build to stock).
  • Identify shortages, missing parts, incomplete kits, and other material risks before they impact production.
  • Track down missing materials by researching system transactions, locations, prior moves, and open requirements.
  • Communicate with production, material handling, planning, purchasing, fleet, and supervisors regarding jobs that are not fully ready.
  • Verify that materials required for upcoming work are available, identified correctly, and aligned to the next operation.
  • Help maintain reports, dashboards, and shortage lists used to prioritize action.
  • Escalate unresolved issues that could impact schedule attainment or customer delivery.
  • Support readiness checks before movement to downstream operations such as fabrication, weld, paint, assembly, or other work centers.
  • Investigate discrepancies between system records and physical material status.
  • Help improve transaction accuracy, location accuracy, and material visibility.
  • Maintain clear notes and follow-up on open issues until resolved.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory, materials, production support, planning, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience using ERP systems, scanners, spreadsheets, and production reports.
  • Experience in a multi-step manufacturing environment.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong troubleshooting and investigative skills.
  • Ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication and coordination skills across departments.
  • Ability to understand bills of material, job flow, work center needs, and material requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple open issues at once.

 

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel to other Robinson facilities may be required.
