Job Title:

Materials and Processes Engineer I

Position Summary

The M&P Engineer will act as first response for all production related issues pertaining to materials and processes. In this role, the engineer will research materials and processes for new and current design, support the production and the purchasing department with shortage issues, and act as liaison between engineering and production.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops solutions to technical problems through application of basic engineering principles.
  • Research material and process improvements for a production environment.
  • Support production through the review and disposition of non-conforming material reports. Previous Material Review Board (MRB) or corrective action (CA) experience is preferred.
  • Develop and maintain internal specifications as necessary to define Type Design.
  • Perform root cause analysis on material and process-related issues.
  • Utilize the internal helpdesk system for maintaining traceability of all tasks requested by departments.
  • Interface with production operators, purchasing agents, middle and upper management, and external vendors.
  • Execute and promote problem solving to all levels of the organization.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. May be required to train and assist other employees, effectively partnering and collaborating on department and cross-functional organizational initiatives.

Minimum Position Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

Requires moderate physical effort consisting of occasionally lifting and/or moving light to moderately heavy weight material up to 35 lbs.
