Job Summary

The Surgical Services Materials Coordinator is responsible for managing the inventory, procurement, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment within the Surgical Services department. This role ensures the availability of essential materials, maintains inventory accuracy, and collaborates with clinical and supply chain teams to support efficient surgical operations.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the procurement, storage, and distribution of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment to support daily operations.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment and minimizing supply shortages.
  • Coordinates with vendors, supply chain personnel, and surgical staff to ensure cost-effective purchasing and availability of essential materials.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and infection control standards related to surgical supplies.
  • Collaborates with clinical teams to forecast supply needs and optimize inventory management practices.
  • Conducts routine inventory audits and cycle counts to verify accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
  • Oversees product recalls, substitutions, and backorders, communicating updates to surgical teams as needed.
  • Utilizes inventory management systems and electronic health records (EHR) to track supply usage and generate reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in supply chain, materials management, or surgical services support preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of surgical supply chain processes, inventory management, and procurement best practices.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software, electronic health records (EHR), and supply chain systems.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to manage supply levels effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Ability to analyze supply usage trends and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements related to surgical materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data reporting tools.
  • Commitment to ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in surgical materials management.
