Summary:
The Distribution Technician works as a team member to meet the needs for supplies and equipment at the end-user department level in order to ensure quality patient care. Accurately inventories, orders, picks and distributes supplies to meet end-user needs.
Position Reports To: Materials Distribution Supervisor
Essential Functions:
- Store incoming Distribution Center supplies in appropriate locations.
- Accurately picks all items requested and either labels them for distribution, delivers them to the requesting departments or restocks items to department inventory location.
- Determines and maintains par levels in designated areas and makes appropriate recommendations for change to the Inventory Control Specialist.
- When inventorying or stocking, rotates stock, checks for outdated supplies and removes any outdated supplies per department policies and procedures.
- Organizes and maintains assigned areas in a clean, efficient and safe manner.
- Performs cycle counts and physical inventories as directed in all inventory locations under Supply Chain Management’s responsibility.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new employees.
- Utilizes the Supply Chain Management Information System per department policies and procedures.
- Safely uses: electrical forklift, electrical pallet jack, manual pallet jack, barrel hand truck, standard hand truck, standard delivery cart, trucks used for distribution.
- Receives, fills requisition requests, delivers and stocks surgical supplies in the Central Services department as required.
- Assist co-workers without being asked.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient-hospital or physician related information. Refrain from gossip and speak in low tones in all appropriate areas.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in cooperation with other team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.
Desired:
- Warehouse, inventory and medical supply experience.
- Some medical terminology preferred.
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management information systems.
- Ability to promote a positive image on behalf of the Supply Chain Management department.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal.
