The Data Manufacuring Quality Team at Tesla is seeking a Materials Engineer with a strong background in material testing, analytical methods, and problem-solving methodologies. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally to resolve challenges, improve manufacturability, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with design, production, reliability, and quality engineering to address issues and improve processes
  • Lead projects from concept through validation to implementation, emphasizing quality
  • Sustain products through cost reduction and yield improvements
  • Use structured problem-solving tools such as DMAIC, 8D, and Ishikawa
  • Analyze data to identify trends and enhance quality and efficiency
  • Monitor and reduce process variation using SPC and MSA techniques
  • Develop and maintain FMEAs, Control Plans, and work instructions for quality testing
  • Degree in Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 year of experience in Quality, Process Design, Process Improvement or Operations
  • Strong expertise in material testing, including mechanical/structural, chemical and dimensional testing
  • Proficiency in analytical tools: Keyence, SEM-EDS, Instron, Rheometer, FTIR, XRF, and others is preferred
  • Knowledge of statistical tools such as JMP or Minitab for data analysis
  • Experience with root cause analysis, MSA studies and implementing data-driven solutions
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams
