Materials & Inventory Specialist

Position Summary

A manufacturing employer in the Lehigh Valley area is seeking a detail-oriented inventory and materials professional to support inventory accuracy, material availability, and production flow. This role partners with materials, purchasing, production planning, and operations to investigate discrepancies, strengthen controls, and support timely manufacturing and customer fulfillment. This is a full-time in-office position.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cycle counts for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods using ERP/MRP records and internal count procedures.
• Research inventory discrepancies, identify likely root causes, and prepare concise variance summaries with recommended corrective actions.
• Support physical inventory activities, including count preparation, reconciliation follow-up, and related system updates.
• Monitor material availability, shortages, lead-time concerns, and inventory risks; communicate findings to purchasing, planning, and operations.
• Maintain reporting tools or dashboards related to inventory accuracy, turns, count results, and exception trends.
• Assist with inventory-control improvements, including barcode scanning, bin locations, storage organization, and capacity planning.
• Help ensure inventory transactions are accurate, timely, and aligned with ERP/MRP processes and internal control expectations.
• Control of (CSP) Customer Supplied Products.
• Work in a cross functional team environment, including dotted line reporting to the Corporate Materials Manager.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in inventory control, materials, production planning, supply chain, or a similar manufacturing/distribution setting preferred.
• ERP or MRP experience, including inventory transactions, item records, and basic materials processes.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related coursework preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; ability to prepare reports, analyze basic data, and maintain organized records.
• Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, follow-through, and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies accurately.
• Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with purchasing, planning, warehouse, and production teams.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• On-site manufacturing/warehouse environment that may not be temperature controlled.
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and use hands to handle materials, tools, or controls as needed.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and wear required PPE, including eye protection and other protective clothing where required.
