    Role Description The Materials Librarian is a part-time, on-site role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is responsible for organizing and maintaining physical material libraries for A+D clients, ensuring that samples and product information are current, accessible, and accurately represented. Day-to-day tasks include managing metadata for materials, coordinating with designers to understand project needs, and liaising with vendors and manufacturers to update and expand library collections. The Materials Librarian provides guidance and informal instruction to design teams on how to locate and use library resources effectively, and may assist with creating displays or themed collections that support design inspiration. The role also involves maintaining orderly library spaces, implementing library policies, and supporting overall library operations for multiple client locations as needed.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • \n
    • Familiarity with architecture and design materials and A+D industry products and trends.
    • \n
    • Knowledge of metadata standards and practices, including organizing and describing materials for efficient retrieval.
    • \n
    • Experience with library management, including cataloging, inventory control, and maintaining both physical and digital collections.
    • \n
    • Ability to provide library instruction or user support, helping teams understand and utilize library resources effectively.
    • \n
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
    • \n
    • Ability to work on-site with design professionals, vendors and manufacturers in a professional manner.
    • \n
    • Proficiency in basic office software, including Google Suite and Dropbox.
    • \n
    • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Library Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • \n
    • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
