Job Summary:
The Materials Management Technician (MMT), under the direction of a Materials Management Specialist, assists in maintaining Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washingtons day-to-day standardized medical and office supply needs and equipment acquisition for one or more designated facilities. This includes ordering, receiving, inventory control, linen, supply and equipment distribution, repairs, instrument reprocessing and/or infection control. The MMT works with other Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington departments in support of the Materials Management functions.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Assists in controlling medical supplies, office supplies, printed materials, linen and small equipment within a Medical Center, Campus or Administrative building. Assists with identification of what should be in stock, organization of the storage space, and the maintenance of appropriate levels of stock in the patient care, ancillary and administrative areas. Processes supply and equipment orders to assure the timely receipt of goods. Helps to trouble shoot Materials procurement problems within the medical facility. Assists with cost control by identifying ways to improve the Materials process. Data enters orders and receipts into the Materials Management computer system and completes other computer tasks as delegated by the Supervisor.
  • Assists with central reprocessing, sterilization, and infection control processes. Prepares and packages instruments for sterilization in compliance with accepted Infection Control standards. Assists with documentation in compliance with Quality Assurance standards. Ensures that all cleaning equipment is properly handled, cleaned and appropriately maintained. Identifies and reports potential and actual hazards in central reprocessing, sterilization, and infection control processes to the Supervisor.
  • Works closely with the Supvervisor to plan improvements to the procurement and sterilization processes. Assists as needed with problem identification and resolution of the Materials functions. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for continued growth and self-evaluation. Identifies own learning needs and participates in educational efforts to meet these needs. Participates in staff orientation, MMT meetings and education activities.
