Materials Manager
This tier 1 automotive, non-union manufacturing facility southwest of Nashville is seeking a Materials Manager. This person will be responsible for materials management - including planning, procurement of domestic and overseas orders, inventory management, to meet company objectives and customer requirements. The Manager will have a Shipping/ Receiving Lead, Materials Planner, Production Scheduler and the 11 Material Handlers across 3 shifts in their department.
Essential Functions
- Direct management of material planner.
- Review customers' demands and future releases and develop level loaded production schedules.
- Act as the ‘go-to' that is involved in negotiations of all major material supplier contracts. Main focal point for all major suppliers (overseas/domestic) issues.
- Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
- Directs the functions and maintain proper inventory control using an MRP systems.
- Direct, monitor and evaluate the personnel in the distribution of raw materials and finished goods.
- Develop procedures in proper material flow and documentation of inventory.
- Establishes procedures and supervises annual physical inventory.
- Investigate and solve problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
- Works with launch team on new projects.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business administration or logistics and seven (7) years' experience with emphasis in material/operations control. Previous management/supervisory experience in a materials function; minimum of seven (7) years managerial experience.
