Materials Manager Nuclear Development
A nuclear development program is seeking a Materials Manager to coordinate the technical, commercial, and schedule-driven work required to move engineered equipment and materials from specification through procurement. This role will align engineering, estimating, purchasing, vendors, and project stakeholders so material decisions remain traceable, timely, and consistent with project requirements.
The strongest fit is a materials, procurement, supply-chain, or project professional who has supported nuclear, power-generation, DOE, or similarly regulated capital projects. Success requires confidence leading specification reviews, material take-off discussions, vendor evaluations, and cross-company coordination without relying on direct authority.
Location: Richland, Washington
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, four 10-hour days
Work Setting: Primarily onsite with limited remote flexibility as approved

Responsibilities
- Lead specification-review meetings and coordinate resolution of technical and commercial requirements before procurement.
- Chair weekly design-of-record coordination meetings across three participating companies, including discussions of purchasing responsibility and ownership.
- Coordinate material estimating, take-offs, procurement planning, tracking, expediting, and communication with estimators, engineering, purchasing, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a combined documentation package that supports consistent planning, decisions, and reporting.
- Lead material take-off meetings and reviews to confirm quantities, technical requirements, procurement priorities, and schedule needs.
- Review forms and documentation for safety-related work so procurement activity supports applicable quality and safety requirements.
- Review procurement specifications for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project requirements.
- Lead vendor selection and product decisions for major equipment and materials, including turbine-related equipment when applicable.
- Coordinate vendor and product quality reviews and drive follow-up actions to closure.
- Facilitate communication among engineering, estimating, purchasing, vendors, and project leadership to support timely procurement decisions.
- Coordinate authorized project travel when required by the technical representative.
Qualifications
- At least five years of relevant materials management, procurement, supply-chain, estimating, project controls, engineering coordination, or major-project experience.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating engineered equipment or materials for nuclear, power-generation, DOE, EPC, or another highly regulated capital-project environment.
- Experience reviewing technical specifications, material take-offs, procurement packages, or vendor submittals.
- Ability to lead cross-functional and cross-company work without direct authority.
- Strong documentation, issue-tracking, decision-management, and stakeholder-communication skills.
- Ability to work the stated schedule in Richland and meet site-access requirements.
- U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working within an NQA-1, ISO 9001, ASME, or comparable quality-assurance program.
- Commercial nuclear, advanced-reactor, small modular reactor, nuclear new-build, or DOE nuclear-project experience.
- Experience with major equipment procurement, supplier surveillance, vendor quality, or source evaluation.
- Working knowledge of safety-related procurement controls, dedication or commercial-grade controls, configuration management, and records requirements.

Washington employees accrue at least one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Accrued leave is available for use after 90 calendar days of employment, and up to 40 unused hours carry over to the next accrual year, subject to applicable law and CRG policy.
