Lead the material flow that keeps Monroe moving
As the MP&L Manager, you’ll direct end-to-end material and information flow for our Monroe plant and its offsite locations. You’ll own Master Scheduling, Materials Planning, Warehouse Management, Receiving, Sequencing, Shipping, and Inventory Control. You will also plan and purchase nonproduction materials and services while championing continuous improvement, SAP master data stewardship, and disciplined MRP usage.
A day in this role
You start by reviewing SAP MRP exceptions and overnight KPIs covering inventory, planning, freight, packaging, and Nonproduction materials (Including recyclables). You align the master schedule with demand, confirm JIT coverage for packaging, raw material, WIP, and components, and resolve any critical stock risks. Midday, you collaborate with Customer Service on delivery commitments and information quality, coach your team on cycle count results, and drive corrective actions to sustain at least 95% inventory accuracy. In the afternoon, you optimize inventory days and safety stocks to buffer swings in customer volume without disrupting operations, track progress toward $0 expedited inbound and outbound freight, and finalize budget-to-actuals for Materials, Freight, Packaging, and Nonproduction purchasing. You close the day standardizing processes, improving SAP master data, and coordinating with IT on supply-chain-related systems in the plant.
What you’ll own
- Master Scheduling, Materials Planning, Warehouse, Receiving, Sequencing, Shipping, and Inventory Control across Monroe and offsite locations.
- Planning and procurement of nonproduction materials and services.
- Standard work and best-practice materials settings, including SAP master data governance and MRP discipline for new product launches, initial inventory build, purchase orders, and forecasting.
- Inventory health: sustain 95% accuracy via cycle counts and semi-annual physical inventory reconciliation; improve inventory days with right-sized safety stock.
- Service performance: ensure JIT supply to production for all materials; resolve critical stock shortages rapidly.
- Logistics efficiency: drive and maintain $0 expedited inbound and outbound freight; ensure effective incoming, warehousing, and distribution logistics.
- Operational excellence: lead continuous optimization of supply chain processes and costs; support the definition, implementation, and improvement of supply chain standards.
- Production planning and control: maintain an efficient, stable plan and flow of materials and information within the plant.
- People leadership: provide guidance; when applicable, hire, develop, and hold team members accountable for execution.
- Financial stewardship: lead the annual Budget/Plan for Materials, Freight, Packaging, and Nonproduction purchasing, and manage performance against plan.
- Systems partnership: support administration of IT-related supply chain topics in the plant.
- Fulfill any additional planning, organizing, leading, and controlling needed to run the function effectively.
Education & experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
- 8–10 years of manufacturing materials management experience with emphasis on procurement, production planning, and inventory control.
- APICS certifications preferred.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and operations.
