Job Description

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Materials & Process Engineer in Chandler, Arizona for an approximately six-month onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support Parts, Materials & Processes (PM&P) engineering for complex aerospace systems, including material qualification, specifications, test planning, design allowables, failure analysis, and compliance documentation throughout the program lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience reviewing materials and process requirements.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings for materials and process requirements.
  • Experience with material characterization and qualification.
  • Experience developing or supporting generation of material design allowables.
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, diagrams, blueprints, production specifications, and assembly documentation.
  • Experience developing test plans and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials and associated fabrication processes.
  • Experience supporting materials qualification programs and lifecycle performance requirements.
  • Experience supporting new-program startup, capture, or execution activities.
  • Understanding of program milestones, financial metrics, and reporting schedules.
  • Strong technical documentation and analytical skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing and obtaining customer approval of As-Designed Parts and Material Lists.
  • Experience creating and obtaining approval of Non-Standard Mechanical Part Approval Requests (NSMPARs).
  • NX or other CAD experience.
  • Experience supporting Hardware Acceptance Reviews.
  • Experience presenting technical information to engineering teams and program stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of basic corrosion principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze, research, and develop materials and associated manufacturing and application processes.
  • Develop and maintain material and process specifications, test plans, test reports, and approval documentation.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials.
  • Develop and evaluate material properties, design allowables, fabrication processes, and quality requirements.
  • Perform or support failure analysis, lifecycle assessments, and material qualification activities.
  • Review engineering drawings and requirements for material and process compliance.
  • Generate objective evidence demonstrating compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier or subcontractor material-processing procedures as applicable.
  • Support program milestones and technical reviews throughout the product lifecycle.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 9/80 work schedule.
  • Full-time onsite in Chandler, Arizona.

Pay

  • $77.31 per hour.
