Out team at Meta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Materials Scientist to join our team in developing advanced materials for our wearables' technology. You will play a critical role in designing, modeling, and prototyping novel concepts, working closely with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of next-generation wearables.Develop and optimize processes for creating advanced materials for wearables displays Design, model, and prototype novel concepts for wearables displays Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, and researchers Characterize and analyze materials using various techniques, such as SEM, AFM, XRD, and DSC Develop and apply multiphysics simulations to inform process design and scale-up Document experimental methods, results, and process knowledgeBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Physics, Polymer Physics or relevant technical field, and/or equivalent practical experience 3+ years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience and/or equivalent practical experience Demonstrated experience with material development, characterization, and analysis Familiarity with phase diagram determination, thermal analysis, and solid-state characterization techniques Hands-on laboratory experience with inert-atmosphere techniques and purification methods Experience working in a R&D environment with cross-functional collaboration Experience with CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent) and rapid prototyping (CNC machining, 3D printing, material selection for fixtures/tooling) Demonstrated experience publication record in organic solid-state materials, crystal engineering, or related disciplines Demonstrated experience with melt growth, zone refining, Bridgman growth, or related crystallization techniques for organic or molecular solids Familiarity with phase diagram determination and thermal analysis of organic systems Hands-on laboratory experience with inert-atmosphere techniques (glove box operation) and purification methods (sublimation, recrystallization) Proficiency with solid-state characterization techniques including at least two of the following: SEM, AFM, XRD, DSC, TGA, or polarized optical microscopy Direct experience growing single crystals of organic semiconductors or -conjugated molecular materials (e.g., acenes, thiophenes, perylenes) Experience designing or scaling up crystal growth furnaces or custom thermal processing equipment, hardware assembling and/or engineering controls Proficiency with molecular characterization techniques such as NMR, GC/MS, and/or LC/MS for purity analysis and structural confirmation Knowledge of defect analysis in molecular crystals (e.g., dislocations, grain boundaries, polymorphism) Strong publication record in organic solid-state materials, crystal engineering, or related disciplines Experience with at least one multiphysics simulation platform (e.g., COMSOL Multiphysics, Ansys Fluent/Mechanical, Siemens FLOEFD/StarCCM+, or equivalent) Experience with organic optoelectronic device fabrication or characterization (OLEDs, OPVs, OFETs)Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. People who choose to build their careers by building with us at Meta help shape a future that will take us beyond what digital connection makes possible today-beyond the constraints of screens, the limits of distance, and even the rules of physics.Meta is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
