    Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) Specialist opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

     

    Work Location: Aiken, SC

     

    Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) Specialist-


    The M&TE Specialist / Technician will support the project Quality organization by maintaining control of Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) used for construction inspection and testing. This position ensures equipment is properly identified, calibrated, traceable, documented, and suitable for use in accordance with project quality requirements. The project involves significant civil and underground utility construction, including excavation, grading, earthwork, storm drainage, ductbanks, firewater, service water, process piping, concrete, and associated site infrastructure.



    Duties:


    • Maintain the project M&TE inventory, database, calibration records, equipment status, and associated Quality documentation.
    • Track calibration due dates and coordinate calibration, repair, replacement, and return of measuring and test equipment.
    • Review calibration certificates for completeness, accuracy, acceptance criteria, and traceability to applicable standards.
    • Issue and receive M&TE and verify equipment is properly identified, labeled, documented, and within its required calibration interval prior to use.
    • Perform field inventories and surveillances to verify M&TE is properly stored, protected, controlled, and maintained.
    • Identify and remove expired, damaged, out-of-calibration, out-of-tolerance, or otherwise unacceptable M&TE from service.
    • Support evaluation, documentation, and disposition of out-of-tolerance and out-of-calibration conditions, including identification of potentially affected inspections or tests.
    • Coordinate M&TE activities with QC Inspectors, Quality Engineering, Construction, Field Engineering, Materials personnel, subcontractors, and calibration vendors.
    • Review subcontractor M&TE and associated calibration documentation when equipment is used for project inspection, testing, or acceptance activities.
    • Maintain complete and retrievable M&TE records in support of audits, assessments, Quality records, and project turnover.
    • Support Quality audits, surveillances, and assessments involving M&TE control and calibration activities.
    • Assist field personnel with determining M&TE status and verifying that appropriate calibrated equipment is available for construction inspection and testing activities.


    Skills/Experience:


    • Experience with M&TE control, calibration, metrology, measuring equipment, inspection equipment, or test equipment in civil construction, nuclear, DOE, power generation, manufacturing, or another regulated industrial environment.
    • Knowledge of calibration practices, calibration intervals, equipment identification and control, measurement accuracy, and traceability.
    • Experience maintaining M&TE inventories, calibration databases, certificates, equipment logs, and Quality records.
    • Experience reviewing calibration certificates and verifying equipment is acceptable for use.
    • Ability to read, understand, and follow Quality procedures, technical specifications, construction requirements, and manufacturer instructions.
    • Strong organizational, documentation, recordkeeping, and computer/database skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with Quality, Construction, Engineering, subcontractors, and field personnel in an active construction environment.
    • Experience with M&TE used for civil, underground utility, mechanical, electrical, welding, and construction Quality activities is beneficial.
    • Relevant equipment may include torque wrenches, pressure gauges, multimeters, megohmmeters, temperature instruments, calipers, micrometers, levels, welding gauges, coating thickness gauges, load cells, and other measuring or test equipment used for construction inspection and testing.


    Preferred Qualifications:


    • Previous experience supporting civil construction or underground utility projects in a Quality or M&TE capacity.
    • Experience working under nuclear, DOE, NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, or other regulated Quality programs.
    • Familiarity with NIST measurement traceability, ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, or similar calibration standards and requirements.
    • Experience supporting Quality audits, surveillances, assessments, or project turnover documentation.
