Grade/Salary Range:  C43/ $64,145.60 - $81,513.60/annually (Exempt)               
* salary commensurate with experience 

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Birth Outcomes Manager, the Maternal and Child Health Navigation Supervisor is responsible for leading and providing guidance to members of the Maternal and Child Health Community Health Worker staff. This person also coordinates with office leadership and project staff to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and activities based on best practices. Collaborates with individuals and community agencies to promote programs and initiatives that support maternal and child health, as well as foster positive working relationships with community groups, aimed at improving birth outcomes and promoting maternal and infant vitality.  

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Directs, coordinates, and supervises activities related to the development and evaluation of initiatives supporting maternal and child health; coordinates with administration and staff to develop programs and activities based on best practices; aids in the development of program goals, objectives, workplans, and logic models.
  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates performance of staff; coordinates with staff to develop goals and objectives to ensure desired outcomes are achievable; aids staff in resolution of problems; analyze staff needs and recommends personnel actions; acts as a liaison between staff and administration; conducts regular staff observations and meetings; provides training for staff.
  • Coordinates and contributes to budget and contract activities; monitors program budget and makes recommendations; prepares and provides financial and programmatic reports to sources of funding and others.
  • Provides leadership and collaborates with individuals and community agencies to promote programs and initiatives supporting maternal and child health; fosters positive working relationships with community groups and other agencies to coordinate programs to better serve the community; conducts community outreach and program referrals; develops, facilitates, and leads internal and external committees and/or presentations related to project activities; completes special projects as assigned; prepares reports; ensures quality of service for new and existing programs.
  • Co-leads the development of marketing efforts to promote programs and initiatives supporting maternal and child health by working directly with staff, Public Information, and the Joint Information Center; implements tactics as needed for internal and external audiences; update educational materials as needed.
  • Prepares and submits periodic status reports for federal grants that support the work of programs and initiatives supporting maternal and child health, including the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Accreditation; manages critical timelines and interaction between community, government, private sector, and non-profit entities.
  • Is an active participant in professional growth through attendance at meetings, trainings, workshops, and webinars.
     


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, or related field with four (4) years of related supervisory experience 
  • Two (2) years’ program management experience
  • Experience working with as a Community Health Worker, or with navigation, and/or community outreach and engagement
  • Understands and acknowledges that Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County uses evidence-based and evidence-informed public health practices based on scientific research including health promotion theory and practice, environmental health measures, and communicable disease control measures including vaccination, isolation, and quarantine practices, and medicine for treatment and prevention of disease, among others
  • Understands and acknowledges the use of tobacco or nicotine products in any form including replacement therapy products and prescription medications used to treat smoking addiction for anyone hired after January 1, 2014, is prohibited
  • Required to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional personnel resources are warranted.  This may include changes in responsibilities and working locations/hours
  • Completion of Incident Command System 100 and National Incident Management System 700 courses within 90 days of hire
  • Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and insurance on any personal vehicle that will be used for work


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, or related field with two (2) years related supervisory experience
