JOB DESCRIPTION Serve as a highly effective Math 7 teacher using instructional and socio-emotional best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification

• Valid Michigan teacher certificate with Math (EX) certification Preferred Experience
• Training in the Connected Math Project (CMP) and research-based instructional methods such as UbD and UDL
• Experience leading successful virtual and in-person lessons.
• Demonstrated ability with computers and other educational technology
• Understanding of the unique developmental, physical and social needs of adolescents
• Skilled in addressing academic, behavioral, and social/emotional needs of adolescents
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff
• Strong communication, technology and organizational skills
• Understanding of how to work with and support a diverse learning community including English Language Learners and Special Education students and their families

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Provide an educational program that meets the educational needs of each student in the teacher's area of responsibility.
• Provide instruction consistent with District and school expectations and which meets the educational needs of all students assigned to the teacher.
• Communicate with students, parents, administrators and other staff members in a manner which is consistent with District and school expectations.
• Maintain student records, organize resources and foster a learning environment which are consistent with District and school expectations, while maximizing student learning.
• Manage time, equipment, and materials efficiently and maintain a physical environment that is well-organized, safe and student focused.
• Plan, prepare and implement instruction and assessment used to measure student growth.
• Honor and carry out the District initiatives and goals.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.
• Be a contributing member to a Professional Learning Community (PLC).
• Communicate student progress and development with parents and staff.
• Demonstrate creative and innovative lesson plans that contribute to a highly engaged learning community.
• Create a caring and nurturing learning atmosphere that allows for emotional and social growth in young children.
• Facilitate classroom meetings utilizing Olweus model and/or Restorative Practices.

Overview of Our Process: We take great pride in our thorough hiring process in the Novi Community School District (NCSD). For all candidates applying for a position within the NEA, NASA, or for an office staff position within NESPA, we follow a comprehensive procedure to ensure we select the best candidates. For external candidates, the process begins with an online screener, which will be sent to applicants via email. All internal candidates will bypass this screener and be moved on to the next phase of the process.

Upon successful completion of the screener and first phase of the process, qualified internal and/or external candidates for NEA and NASA positions will receive an email invitation for a one-way video interview. This stage is a crucial opportunity for candidates to showcase their qualifications. After reviewing the one-way video submissions, selected candidates will be contacted by phone for an in-person interview.
