Job Description:
PVPA has an opportunity for a Math Intervention Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of students in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will be a reflective practitioner who is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. This position will co-teach Algebra 1 and two sections of a tier three math intervention class. There is also opportunities to work with students outside of class time. In addition to teaching classes, under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, you will be responsible for:
- Providing math intervention mini-lessons and ongoing assessment to targeted students in Algebra 1 and Geometry classes
- Providing updated math data to grade level teams and the math department and participate in decisions about student progress
- Supporting and training math teachers to modify lessons and use data to inform instruction.
- Supporting math during student study blocks by reteaching, reviewing and helping students revise math assignments.
- Collaborating with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
- Attending and participating in meetings with students and/or parents as scheduled
- Participating in professional development workshops
- Supervising students during non-class times (ex: break & lunch) as required
- Participating in a variety of school wide events
Qualifications;
The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate. Preferred qualifications include:
- Two or more years of experience teaching high school math or math tutoring, preferably Algebra 1, geometry and Algebra 2, in a public or private school.
- Eligible for "Highly Qualified" teacher status (MA Certified or able to pass Communication & Literacy and Subject Matter MTEL exam within 1 year).
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement
- Experience with high school students
- Knowledge of discipline curriculum standards
- Interest or experience in the arts
Other Information/Instructions:
Salary Range: Full time $43,268 to $68,719 annually. Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year.
2026-2027 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five hour work week that includes, on average, three class blocks per day of collaborative/independent work time.
