Graham County Schools is seeking to fill a teaching position at Robbinsville High School. We recognize that secondary mathematics is a hard-to-fill area and will prioritize candidates who hold appropriate mathematics certification. However, if a certified mathematics teacher is not available, the district may consider hiring a Math Facilitator to support student learning through courses delivered by the North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS). The facilitator would work on site to reinforce instruction, monitor student progress, and provide academic support to ensure student success.

Math Teacher: (preferred)

The purpose of this position is to provide quality instruction to students in a 9-12 learning environment, guiding them to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal.

Math Facilitator:

The Math Facilitator collaborates with the North Carolina Virtual Public Schools Instructor to support the effective delivery of high-quality mathematics instruction. This role focuses on reinforcing state standards and research-based practices by facilitating student engagement, monitoring progress, and providing supplemental academic support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Math Teacher: (preferred)

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Instruct and monitor students in use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Math Facilitator:

  • Collaborate with the NCVPS Instructor to implement instruction aligned with state standards.
  • Provide support to the NCVPS instructor through modeling lessons and observing instruction.
  • Support the integration of technology into math instruction to enhance learning.
  • Stay current with research in mathematics education and share relevant information with staff.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in student learning through collaboration with the NCVPS Instructor
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Skilled in identifying student learning and personal needs and collaborating with other professionals to provide needed resources or interventions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and electronic formats; as well as; in-person.
  • Ability to use a computer or other electronic devices for the purpose of communication, instruction, data recording, and location of information.

Education and Experience

Requirements

Teacher (preferred)

Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a current NC Teaching Certification in Secondary Mathematics Education.

Math Facilitator

Minimum of an Associate's degree or 48 hours of college transferrable hours. Successful experience working with students who need academic intervention is desirable.

Teacher: State Salary Schedule

Math Facilitator: State Salary Schedule + local stipend
