About STMA Schools

We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district is comprised of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.

Position Overview & Responsibilities

Responsible for preparing lessons, instructing students with a wide range of abilities, assessing student learning, collecting and analyzing student data to plan instruction, creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment, communicating with students, parent and multiple stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, supervising students, participating in school improvement initiatives and learning professionally.

Start date: September 1, 2026, plus potential for 2 hours of training prior to starting if new to STMA Online.

FTE: overload

Contract: Starting with the 2026-2027 school year, this position will carry over from trimester to trimester and year to year, unless the staff member retires or resigns or enrollment requires the reduction of courses or course sections. The school district retains all rights to release an Online teacher on the basis of performance at its discretion with written notice and a minimum reasonable period to remedy. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, a formal evaluation process will apply to all STMA Online Overload Teachers, separate from their regular certified positions.

Compensation: $3,800 stipend/per trimester, paid in two (2) equal installments, according to the schedule set by Business Services, which is currently:

Trimester 1: 1st half Oct. 15th 2nd half Nov. 15th

Trimester 2: 1st half Jan. 30th 2nd half March 15th

Trimester 3: 1st half Apr 15th 2nd half May 30th

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor''s degree in education and required teaching certificate in related area(s) of instruction as required by the State of Minnesota, specific content knowledge, training or job experience required before appointment, and successful student teaching. Tier 3 or Tier 4 teaching licensure in Mathematics (7-12) from the State of Minnesota (PELSB). Current STMA certified staff members receive preference in hiring for this position, hiring according to seniority based on recent STMA Online Teaching experience.
