QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be Wisconsin DPI certified to teach grades 6-8 in the content area of mathematics.
  • An emphasis in or experience teaching mathematics is required.
  • Implements Common Core State Standards for Math and Literacy, as well as its recommendations for classroom instruction and assessment.
  • Must be familiar with the use of technology in teaching mathematics.
  • Shows evidence that effective instructional strategies are used to ensure student success in mathematics, reading, and writing.
  • Must be willing to actively participate in curriculum development, professional development, and data analysis.
  • Effectively implements components of adolescent literacy in the mathematics classroom.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to work well as part of a team. Applicants must show an understanding of and ability to work with the unique needs of the middle school student. Must have the ability to increase the motivation and interest of students. Must demonstrate appropriate use of a wide variety of instructional strategies including assessment. Must demonstrate the effective use of data to increase student learning. Must be able to work in a co-planning/co-serving environment, collaborating with special education teachers.
