    Job Summary

    The Mathematics Teacher provides standards-based mathematics instruction that develops students' conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. The role creates engaging learning experiences through inquiry, exploration, real-world applications, and technology integration while supporting academic growth in alignment with curriculum standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach secondary mathematics courses using approved curriculum and instructional materials.
    • Develop daily and unit lesson plans that promote student engagement and conceptual understanding.
    • Deliver inquiry-based and problem-solving focused mathematics instruction.
    • Design real-world learning experiences that demonstrate mathematical applications.
    • Foster mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and collaborative learning.
    • Differentiate instruction through individual, small-group, and whole-class teaching strategies.
    • Integrate technology, graphing tools, and digital resources into classroom instruction.
    • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
    • Maintain accurate student progress records and use assessment data to improve instruction.
    • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
    • Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
    • Participate in curriculum development, professional development, faculty meetings, and school activities.
    • Supervise students during assigned school activities and support extracurricular programs such as math clubs or competitions.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree with a major or minor in Mathematics.
    • Eligible for or currently holding a valid Virginia Teaching License.
    • Tuberculin (TB) screening confirming absence of contagious tuberculosis.
    • Strong knowledge of mathematics curriculum and instructional practices.
    • Ability to deliver inquiry-based and differentiated instruction.
    • Proficiency with instructional technology, graphing tools, and computer applications.
    • Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
