The MCC Clinical Registered Nurse - Senior provides direct nursing care to patients at the Mays Cancer Center. Demonstrates independence when preparing equipment and aiding physicians during the treatment and examination of patients. Works under the minimal supervision of the department leadership. May lead or mentor lower level team members.

  • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.
  • Managerial/Supervisory: Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance of self or other individuals, to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.
  • Planning/Organizing - Efficiently uses time to identify short and long term priorities; fulfills realistic goals; and responds to schedules of others.
  • Required certifications must remain current and valid.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor''s degree in nursing is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Five (5) years of professional nursing experience is required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Active RN TX licensure required.

Active CPR/BLS required.

  • Implements operational practices and makes recommendations for continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Verifies patients'' needs are met and evaluates unit nursing care and performance.
  • Ensures adherence to institutional, divisional and unit based policies and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in planning work of assigned units and coordinates activities with other patient care units and related departments.
  • Plans and organizes training for unit staff members, and participates in guidance/educational programs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
