Job Title
Research Assistant, STEM
Essential Job Functions
The student research assistant under the mentorship of a STEM faculty member from the Department of Applied Science and Technology, Biological Sciences, Computer and Information Science, Nursing, and STEM MBA will assist in the various research and other functions of the department. In doing so, students will perform the following responsibilities:
Conduct literature searches
Conduct ongoing research activities under the supervision of the principal
investigator (PI)
Assist program researcher with lab instructions and handle samples from
experiments
Collect and analyze data using various statistical models
Present research findings and reports to summarize data
Maintain files for the PI Attend project and related meetings
Prepare materials for IRB approval (if applicable)
Assist in the preparation of research manuscripts, modules, and presentations
Must fulfill a 20 hours per week research schedule
Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Must be admitted to a graduate STEM program
Must be currently enrolled in graduate school and in good academic standing
Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester hours
GPA of 3.25 or above
Must not hold any other employment on or off campus

Knowledge of research methods
Communication and problem-solving skills
Data entry and data analysis
Proficient in using lab equipment
Must be dependable and able to work with minimum supervision
Must have excellent interpersonal, customer relations, communication, and organizational skill
Effective time management skills
Computer skills
Ability to complete projects by deadline
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and the internet
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Successful experience working in a team environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities, objectives, and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
