Measurement Equipment Technician

Position Overview

As a Measurement Equipment Technician, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, ensuring that our development vehicles and drive system test setups are equipped with precision instrumentation. Your expertise will be pivotal in supporting prototype and pre-production testing, utilizing high-quality sensors and data acquisition tools. Your work will ensure that our drive system engineering teams have reliable, safe, and traceable measurement capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Vehicle Instrumentation & Sensor Installation
  • Install and route thermal sensors, pressure transducers, and other drive-system-related sensors in prototype and development vehicles.
  • Ensure clean, secure, and vibration-resistant mounting of sensors on various components like E-motors, inverters, and gearboxes.
  • Perform sensor labeling, heat-shielding, securing, and proper strain relief.
• Data Acquisition & Logging Equipment Setup
  • Install, configure, and verify operation of Vector logging systems and ETAS modules.
  • Connect measurement modules, CAN/LIN interfaces, Ethernet links, and required power feeds.
  • Create and maintain channel mappings, scaling, and basic configuration settings.
• Integrity Checks & Pre-Test Verification
  • Conduct continuity checks, polarity checks, and basic sensor validation.
  • Verify physical routing for safety and perform pre-test logging checks.
• Equipment Maintenance, Storage & Inventory
  • Maintain an organized inventory of sensors, cables, and modules.
  • Perform minor repairs and manage calibration status of equipment.
  • Track serial numbers, test usage history, and hardware allocation.
• Documentation & Traceability
  • Create and maintain sensor installation sheets and routing diagrams.
  • Update logs for equipment use and provide feedback to engineers.
• Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
  • Work closely with various teams to understand instrumentation needs and meet timelines.
  • Support quick-turn instrumentation changes during development cycles.
  • Provide basic onboard support during shakedown testing when needed.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in vehicle instrumentation, measurement, or automotive testing.
• Hands-on experience with thermocouples, pressure sensors, and other measurement sensors.
• Proficiency with Vector tools and ETAS ES-series measurement modules.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and measurement channel plans.
• Strong skills in professional harnessing and knowledge of safe work practices.
• Comfortable working on prototype vehicles in fast-paced development environments.

• High first-pass quality of sensor installations and logger setups.
• Minimal rework due to instrumentation errors or misconfiguration.
• Well-maintained inventory with accurate tracking and minimal loss/damage.
• Reliable data capture with clear, validated sensor signals.
• Strong adherence to safety, cleanliness, and organizational standards.
