Position summary:

Meat Cutter I is an entry-level position responsible for performing basic cutting and trimming operations on pork carcasses under close supervision. This role focuses on repetitive tasks requiring attention to safety, quality, production and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

• Perform basic knife work such as trimming fat, removing bone, or separating cuts.
• Operate or work near automated machinery under supervision.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
• Maintain clean and sanitized work area.
• Assist higher-level cutters as needed.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

Qualifications:

·         Ability to work in a production environment with fluorescent lights and climate variation. 

·         Ability to make 8-10 cuts per minute. 

·         Work in 1-2 positions

·         Ability to take direction and work with others as part of a team. 

·         Ability to lift to 25 lbs. frequently, up to 50 lbs. occasionally.  

·         Repetitive use of hands and fine motor skills. 

·         Flexibility to change duties, rotations and product requirements. 

·         Good communications skills. 

·         Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.

·         Additional for slaughter dept: Stomach/Offall cleaning/packaging

·         Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

·         Standing 90%

·         Walking 10%

·         Sitting 0%

·         Perform repetitive physical motions including cutting, pulling, pushing, and twisting.

·         Near acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less)

·         Speaking-ordinary speech

·         Hearing-ordinary conversation

·         Ability to stand on hard surfaces for 8–10 hours per shift.
